Luggage Storage in Munich: Lockers, Apps, Airport, and What to Avoid
Compare pickup time, reservation, transport route, and access before choosing where to leave your luggage.
- Hotel or hostel: ask there first if you have accommodation.
- Hauptbahnhof: DB lockers exist, but construction can limit availability and there is no reservation.
- Ostbahnhof: Mobile Locker is the clearest station option if you want online reservation and cashless payment.
- ZOB / Hackerbrücke: official lockers are useful for coach travelers and can be used for up to 72 hours.
- Munich Airport: staffed left-luggage service is available at Service Centers in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
You may arrive before check-in, leave Munich in the evening, or want to store a suitcase before sightseeing. Choose a storage place that is easy to reach again when you need the bag.
Start with your hotel if you have one. If not, choose storage on a route you are already using. For a tight schedule, do not depend on one unreserved station locker being available.

Check four things before booking or walking to a storage location.
Pickup time
Same day, late night, next morning, or several days later?
Reservation
Can you reserve it, or do you have to hope a locker is free?
Transport line
Is it on your real S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram, or train route?
Access type
Unmanned locker, station locker, hotel desk, or staffed partner shop?

02Choose the storage location by situation
The most convenient storage place depends on your route and pickup time. A station that works well for a westbound train may add a long detour if you are heading to the airport.
Hauptbahnhof DB lockers
Useful when your departure, hotel, or next transfer is already around the central station area. Because there is no reservation and construction can reduce availability, keep a backup in mind.
ZOB official lockers
Good when your FlixBus or long-distance coach arrives or leaves at ZOB, or when Hackerbrücke already fits your route. No online reservation, so arrive with time.
Ostbahnhof
Good when Munich East is already on your S-Bahn route. Do not go there just because it has a reserved locker.
Pasing
Useful for west side hotels or westbound trains. Weak if your day is old town, airport, or Allianz Arena focused.
03Use your hotel first when possible
If you have accommodation in Munich, ask there first. Many hotels and hostels can hold luggage before check-in or after check-out.
This is usually the easiest solution because your bag stays close to your accommodation. Apartments, self-check-in rooms, and some budget stays may not offer luggage storage.

04Station lockers: check availability and backup options
Munich has luggage storage at several major transport points, but the systems are not identical. Hauptbahnhof and Pasing use conventional DB lockers, Ostbahnhof has reservable digital Mobile Lockers, ZOB has its own official locker area, and Munich Airport uses staffed left-luggage Service Centers rather than a normal city-station locker setup.
The weak point at Hauptbahnhof is availability. DB currently warns that construction work can limit the number of lockers available. Pasing is more predictable if it genuinely fits a west-side route: DB currently lists 48 small lockers at 3 € and 12 large lockers at 5 € for 24 hours, paid with coins. Do not travel to Pasing only for storage if the rest of your day is central Munich.

ZOB lockers (Hackerbrücke)
The Central Bus Station (ZOB), next to Hackerbrücke S-Bahn station, has its own official lockers at bus station level. They can be useful if you arrive or leave by long-distance coach, stay near Hackerbrücke, or already plan to use ZOB for Sunday shopping at Lidl.
ZOB also has a waiting area open daily from 06:00 to 22:00, which can help if you arrive early or your bus is delayed. Lost something on site? Ask at the ZOB info point. If you left something on a bus, contact that bus company directly.
05Reservable storage: Ostbahnhof Mobile Locker and booking services
Ostbahnhof Mobile Locker
Ostbahnhof Mobile Locker is useful when Munich East is already on your route. It is near Platform 5 in the underpass, close to the DB Info point and Rischart bakery. It offers online reservation and cashless payment.

BagBuddy24: check the current branch list first
BagBuddy24 can still be useful in Munich, but do not rely on an old branch link. The provider currently lists both Main Train Station South and Hackerbrücke as temporarily closed, with Hackerbrücke expected to reopen for Oktoberfest. Other Munich locations have their own opening hours, so start from the current Munich location page and choose a branch that is actually open and fits your route.
06Partner storage apps: check the exact address
Services such as Bounce, Nannybag Munich, Stasher, Radical Storage Munich, and LuggageHero Munich can be useful when the location matches your route.
These services may use shops, hotels, cafés, lockers, or other local businesses. A Giesing-area location can work well if your hotel or U2/S-Bahn route goes that way. It is less convenient if your whole day is around Hauptbahnhof, Marienplatz, or the old town.
Open Stasher, then enter Munich and your date directly on the provider site or app. Stasher city and booking URLs can change depending on location, date, and availability, so the homepage search is safer than relying on one fixed Munich URL.
07Airport and venue storage are special cases
Munich Airport storage can help before an early flight, during a long layover, or when you plan a short city visit and will return to the airport. The airport currently offers staffed left-luggage service at Service Centers in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. For a normal city day, avoid storing a bag at the airport if you would need a separate trip back only to collect it. Allianz Arena rules depend on the event. The arena’s general luggage-storage page lists permanent drop-off points at Service Points 2 and 3, with additional locations, at 2 € per item. For concerts, however, the current concert information lists luggage storage in front of the south entrances at 10 € per item, allows larger suitcases, does not allow reservations, and says the storage points close around midnight. Always check the page for your specific event before bringing luggage to the arena.

Ask the hotel or hostel first
Avoid a separate locker trip unless the accommodation cannot hold your bag.
Use storage on your route
Hotel storage, a reserved locker, or a partner location can all work. Choose the option that fits your next stop.
Stay close to your departure line
A small price saving may not be worth an extra trip with a suitcase.
Use confirmed late access
Check the actual closing time or locker access window before paying. Do not assume a partner shop stays open late.
Check the opening time
A non-24/7 place can still work if it opens before you need the bag.
Check storage before going to the venue
If possible, store large luggage earlier. Use venue storage when the event’s own rules and fees suit your plan.

Check the exact address on the provider page.
Check the pickup time. For late pickup, confirm that access is still available after your event or train arrival.
Check the route after pickup. Avoid adding an unnecessary transfer with a suitcase.
Check the bag size and access rule. Some lockers allow only one opening after payment, while some partner locations are staffed shops.
Choose a storage option that fits the rest of your day without adding another difficult trip.
